The suspect who fatally stabbed a police lieutenant has been arrested after 14 hours on the run.
On September 23, the Thai Binh Provincial Police arrested Vo Tien Manh (born in 2002, from Quang Binh commune, Kien Xuong district, Thai Binh province), the suspect responsible for the death of Lieutenant Do Van Tu, a police officer from An Bai town, Quynh Phu district, Thai Binh province, while he was on duty.
Specifically, at 9:50 PM on September 22nd, Lieutenant Do Van Tu (born in 1998, residing in Quynh Hai commune, Quynh Phu district, Thai Binh province) was on duty when he received a report from the public at alley 61, Pham Nhu Trinh street, group 5, An Bai town, Quynh Phu district, about a suspicious individual suspected of theft.
Comrade Do Van Tu reported the incident and was assigned by his commander to go to the area to assess the situation. During the course of his duty, Comrade Do Van Tu was stabbed multiple times by the suspect. The suspect then fled the scene.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the leaders of the Thai Binh Provincial Police were present at the scene; at the same time, they directed professional units and the police forces of districts and cities to mobilize maximum forces and resources to coordinate with the Provincial People's Procuracy and local Party committees and authorities to conduct investigations; and to organize concentrated forces to immediately pursue the suspect.
In addition, the leadership and medical staff of Thai Binh Provincial General Hospital focused on providing emergency care to Comrade Tu. However, Comrade Tu did not survive due to the severity of his injuries. The Thai Binh Provincial Police, in coordination with the local Party committee and government, organized the funeral for Lieutenant Do Van Tu according to regulations, and simultaneously reported to the Ministry of Public Security leadership to consider promoting Comrade Do Van Tu from Lieutenant to Senior Lieutenant.
Expressing condolences to the family of Comrade Do Van Tu, the Provincial Police Directorate visited, offered condolences, and provided support to the family during this time of mourning.
Through professional investigative methods and a resolute spirit in attacking and suppressing crime, after 14 hours, the police force arrested the perpetrator, Vo Tien Manh, while he was hiding in Ninh Binh province.
Currently, the leaders of the Thai Binh Provincial Police are directing the Provincial Police Investigation Agency to coordinate with the People's Procuratorate at the same level to focus on investigating and clarifying the case in accordance with the law.
