The Norwegian national team and their hopes of reaching the 2026 World Cup.
By defeating hosts Estonia with a narrow 1-0 victory, Erling Haaland and his teammates have almost secured their place in the 2026 World Cup.
Before facing Estonia, coach Stale Solbakken's team had secured three consecutive victories against Moldova, Israel, and especially Italy. With a perfect 12 points after four matches, the team nicknamed Lovene (Lions) is comfortably sitting at the top of Group I.
Currently, the Norwegian team is 9 points ahead of their direct competitor, the Italian team (Italy has played 2 fewer matches). Clearly, the Norwegian team has a significant advantage over the other teams in the race for the single direct qualification spot from Group I for the 2026 World Cup.

Certainly, coach Stale Solbakken and his team will do everything they can to ensure Norway's participation in the biggest football event on the planet, which will take place in the summer of 2026 in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. If they achieve that goal, they will be heroes for their Nordic nation.
In the past, the Norwegian national team has participated in the World Cup three times and the European Championship once. However, since the 2000 European Championship, held in Belgium and the Netherlands, the Norwegian team has consistently been eliminated in the qualifying rounds. It's worth noting that Norwegian football has no shortage of star players.
Currently, coach Stale Solbakken has quite a few talented players at his disposal, such as Erling Haaland (Man City), Martin Odegaard (Arsenal), and Alexander Sorloth (Atletico Madrid). If they perform to their full potential, a ticket to the 2026 World Cup will be hard to slip from the grasp of Erling Haaland and his teammates.
Hopefully, the Norwegian national team will continue its successful run in Group I of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in the European region. They will be one of the 48 best teams to participate in the biggest football event on the planet next summer. The opportunity is in their hands; will the Norwegian team seize it?
