(Baonghean.vn) - The Vietnamese women's team has been officially eliminated from the 2024 Paris Olympics after losing to Japan 2-0.

On the evening of November 1st, the Vietnamese women's national team played their final match in the qualifying round for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Facing a much stronger Japanese women's team, coach Mai Duc Chung's players started the game quite proactively.

Despite having less possession than their opponents, whenever the opportunity arose, Huỳnh Như and her teammates proactively attacked, trying to get the ball into the Japanese women's team's goal area. However, the Japanese women's team played more proactively, making it difficult for them to get the ball close to their goal.

The match was one-sided, with Japan completely dominating. Their fluid passing and dynamic runs allowed them to easily approach the penalty area. However, thanks to a well-organized defense and tight man-marking, Vietnam minimized the number of shots from their opponents.

In the first half, Japan created several notable opportunities, but goalkeeper Khong Thi Hang made excellent saves. However, in the 40th minute, from a run down the left wing, Hinata Miyazawa made a perfect pass to Shimizu, who tapped the ball in from close range to open the scoring for the Japanese women's team.

After conceding a goal, the Vietnamese women's team pushed forward in search of an equalizer, with the most notable moment being Tuyet Dung's corner kick, which went towards the far corner but lacked a bit of accuracy.

In the second half, the pace of the game remained unchanged from the first, with the Japanese women's team playing cautiously and not showcasing their full strength. Nevertheless, they soon scored their second goal.

From a chaotic situation following a weak clearance by goalkeeper Khổng Thị Hằng, Kumagai was in the 5-meter area and quickly took a shot, scoring the second goal for the Japanese women's team. After this goal, coach Mai Đức Chung made a change, substituting Tuyết Dung, who showed signs of fatigue, with young player Trần Thị Duyên in the hope of adding more attacking impetus.

In the remaining minutes of the match, the Vietnamese women's team defended well and held firm against the pressure from the Japanese women's team.

In the end, the Vietnamese women's team lost to Japan with a score of 0-2. With this defeat, the Vietnamese women's team has no chance of advancing to the 2024 Olympics, having only earned 3 points after 3 matches, scoring 1 goal and finishing second in Group C. This was also the last match for coach Mai Duc Chung as head coach of the Vietnamese women's national football team.
