The Thai national team has officially been eliminated from the 2026 World Cup.
Despite winning 3-1 against Singapore, Thailand was still unable to advance beyond the second round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
On the evening of June 11th, the Thai national team will travel to Singapore for their final match in Group C of the second round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
In this group, the South Korean team has already secured their place in the next round. The remaining spot is a competition between China and Thailand. China currently holds the advantage in points, being 3 points ahead of Thailand, and also has a better goal difference (+1 vs -2).
Therefore, coach Masatada Ishii's team needs to win convincingly against Singapore and hope that China loses to South Korea.

In the opening minutes of the first half, the Thai team quickly launched an attack and created several good scoring opportunities. Notable shots came from Chanathip, Suphanat, Supachok, and Suphanan. Unfortunately, none of them were able to capitalize on these chances to convert them into goals.
It wasn't until the 37th minute, taking advantage of a defensive lapse from the Singapore team, that star midfielder Songkrasin Chanathip made an accurate pass into the penalty area for his teammate Suphanat Mueanta to run in and score the opening goal, giving Thailand a 1-0 lead.
In the second half, Thailand continued to maintain pressure. However, a surprise occurred in the 57th minute when Ikhsan Fandi scored with a long-range shot against Thailand.
With nothing left to lose, Thailand pressed forward aggressively. Surprisingly, the team only became sharper when coach Masatada Ishii substituted Supachok or Chanathip.

In the 79th minute, Poramet Arjvirai curled a beautiful shot into the left corner, finding the back of the net and putting Thailand 2-1 ahead. Then, in the 86th minute, hope flickered for Thailand when Jaroensak Wonggorn extended their lead to 3-1.
In the final 10 minutes of the match (including injury time), Thailand frantically pushed forward in search of another goal, but they were ultimately unsuccessful.
In the end, the Thai team won 3-1 against Singapore. Notably, despite winning and having 8 points and a goal difference (0) like China, in terms of head-to-head performance, the "land of temples" team lost to China (lost 1-2 in the first leg, drew 1-1 in the second leg).
Therefore, the ticket to the next round went to China, while Thailand officially bowed out in the second round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in the Asian region.
