Close illegal pedestrian crossings that cut across the railway tracks.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of January 12th, the inter-agency inspection team for railway safety closed illegal pedestrian crossings and cleared obstructions to visibility at level crossings intersecting with railway lines in the province.
According to the Nghe An Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, in 2017, 12 traffic accidents occurred on the North-South railway line passing through the province, resulting in 9 deaths and 6 injuries. Many accidents occurred at level crossings and pedestrian crossings wider than 3 meters. In response to this situation, the Provincial People's Committee issued document No. 6493/UBND-NC dated August 24, 2017, on ensuring traffic safety at level crossings and pedestrian crossings.

The closure of illegal pedestrian crossings was carried out in 6 districts, cities, and towns, affecting 39 crossings.
Specifically, in Hoang Mai, coordination with the Project Management Board of Railway Area 1 continues to implement the "Sub-project for land clearance and construction of project items under phase 2 of plan No. 1856/KH-TTg under emergency order - scope of Nghe An province, under the project: construction of project items under phase 2, plan No. 1856/KH-TTg under emergency order".
In Quynh Luu, two local access points at Km275+625 and Km258+480 were closed; the road surface was narrowed and smoothed at eight locations for local access points: Km249+615, Km253+200, Km254+830, Km275+470, Km257+990, Km258+345, Km259+010, and Km266+180.
In Dien Chau, one pedestrian crossing at Km271+500 will be closed; five pedestrian crossings at Km267+500, Km281+610, Km283+923, Km286+260, and Km287+348 will have their road surfaces narrowed and smoothed; trees will be cleared 15 meters east of the railway tracks at the pedestrian crossing at Km283+923; level crossings will be widened at Km285+200 and Km286+860; and two additional warning signs will be added on either side of the level crossing at Km280+500.

In Nghi Loc, four local access points at Km350+320, Km306+830, Km309+346, and Km310+160 will be closed; five local access points at Km296+350, Km298+310, Km299+625, Km304+575, and Km304+820 will have their road surfaces narrowed and smoothed.
In Vinh City, the road surface will be narrowed and smoothed for 4 local access points at the following locations: Km214+410, Km320+060, Km321+470, Km321+870...
In Hung Nguyen, one local access point at Km327+915 will be closed; nine local access points at the following locations will be narrowed and smoothed: Km322+590, Km323+890, Km325+025, Km325+168, Km325+885, Km326+175, Km326+350, Km326+910, and Km328+770.

According to the plan, the closure of illegal pedestrian crossings and the clearing of visibility at level crossings with railways in the province must be completed before the Lunar New Year of Mau Tuat 2018.
