On behalf of the Politburo, Comrade Nguyen Thanh Binh - Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Central Organization Department - announced Decision No. 35-QDNS/TW of the Politburo on the assignment of Comrade Dinh Tien Dung - Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Finance, Minister of Finance, to the position of Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee for the term 2020-2025.

At the conference, Comrade Vo Van Thuong, Member of the Political Bureau and Standing Secretary of the Central Committee, presented flowers and congratulated Comrade Vuong Dinh Hue. Earlier, Comrade Vuong Dinh Hue was elected Chairman of the National Assembly.

Permanent member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat Vo Van Thuong congratulated Comrade Vuong Dinh Hue - Member of the Political Bureau - on being elected Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and congratulated Comrade Dinh Tien Dung - Member of the Political Bureau - on being entrusted by the Political Bureau with the nhiệm vụ of Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee.

The Standing Committee of the Party Central Committee reiterated the directive given at the recent 16th Congress of the Hanoi City Party Committee, where General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized: Hanoi, as the national political and administrative center, a major center for culture, science, education, economy, and international trade, always has to deal with a large and difficult workload, many of which are unprecedented. However, with strenuous efforts, unity, and high determination, the Party Committee, government, and people of Hanoi have overcome many difficulties and challenges, strictly adhering to the leadership and direction of the Central Committee, employing many dynamic and creative approaches, and achieving many successes in various fields.

Stemming from the important role and position of Hanoi Capital City; to ensure the direct, comprehensive, regular, and continuous leadership of the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the Central Committee of the Party over the Hanoi City Party Committee, and to meet the requirements of leading the implementation of the city's political tasks, the Politburo unanimously decided to transfer and assign Comrade Dinh Tien Dung - Member of the Politburo, Minister of Finance - to the position of Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee for the term 2020-2025.

Comrade Dinh Tien Dung is a well-trained official who has risen through the ranks and held numerous positions from the central to local levels, including: Deputy Minister of Construction; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Dien Bien Province; Secretary of the Ninh Binh Provincial Party Committee; Auditor General; and Minister of Finance. He is a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam for the 11th, 12th, and 13th terms, a member of the Politburo for the 13th term, and a member of the National Assembly for the 14th term.

Comrade Dinh Tien Dung is an official with firm political convictions, exemplary ethics and lifestyle; possesses knowledge and expertise; has a firm grasp of Party building and State management; has prestige and the ability to unite and consolidate internal affairs; has extensive work experience, understands the practical situation, and is suitable for leading the implementation of political tasks in Hanoi city.

Comrade Vo Van Thuong stated that the Politburo trusts that with his political acumen, capabilities, intellect, and wealth of experience, along with the support of central agencies, and the close cooperation and assistance of the Party Committee, government, and people of the city, Comrade Dinh Tien Dung will continue to build upon the achievements and experiences of previous generations of leaders, and together with the Standing Committee, the Executive Committee, and the Party Committee, will unite and work together to build a dynamic, innovative, and creative Hanoi, worthy of the trust of our people in the heroic capital - the City for Peace - the beloved heart of the nation.

Speaking at the conference, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue shared that his experience working in the capital city had helped him understand and become even more attached to Hanoi. Through directing Hanoi's work, he further recognized the precious tradition of the Hanoi Party Committee: always united, resolute, creative, and exemplary leading the country.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue congratulated Comrade Dinh Tien Dung on being unanimously assigned by the Politburo to the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee, and the position of Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee. Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue expressed confidence that with his extensive experience and comprehensive knowledge in Party building, socio-economic development, security, and national defense, Comrade Dinh Tien Dung, together with the Hanoi City Party Committee, will continue the tradition of unity, courage, intelligence, creativity, and exemplary conduct to ensure Hanoi continues to progress and achieve many more successes in the future.

In his acceptance speech, the new Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, Dinh Tien Dung, shared that he deeply understands that the assigned task is both an honor and a great responsibility before the Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, and before the Party Committee, government, and people of Hanoi. Therefore, the new Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee stated that he will do his utmost to fulfill the political tasks assigned by the Party, the State, and the people of Hanoi. He respectfully thanked and congratulated his predecessor, Comrade Vuong Dinh Hue, a member of the Politburo and Chairman of the National Assembly, for his positive contributions to the development of the capital city.

In his new position, the new Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee pledged to make every effort, uphold the spirit of pioneering and exemplary conduct, and together with the Standing Committee, the Executive Committee of the City Party Committee, and the entire political system of the Capital, to uphold the tradition of unity and solidarity, seize opportunities, promote favorable conditions, overcome difficulties and challenges, successfully implement the Resolution of the 17th Congress of the City Party Committee, and together with the whole country, resolutely implement the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party.
