Comrade Thai Thanh Quy was elected to the position of Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

On the morning of October 1st, the 17th Provincial People's Council, term 2016-2021, held its 7th session to carry out personnel work within its authority.

Attending the session were: Comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies; Comrade Nguyen Van Thong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, leaders of the Provincial People's Committee and provincial departments and agencies.

Accordingly, in a spirit of democracy and responsibility, the session proceeded to vote for the position of Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for Mr. Thai Thanh Quy - Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, and Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Department.

The delegates voted to approve the Resolution confirming the election results for the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

As a result, Mr. Thai Thanh Quy was elected Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for the 2016-2021 term with an absolute majority of 86 out of 86 votes.

At the session, the Provincial People's Council voted to approve the Resolution confirming the election results of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for the 2016-2021 term for Mr. Thai Thanh Quy.

Earlier, the session proceeded with the dismissal and voted to approve the Resolution confirming the results of the dismissal of Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong from the position of Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, term 2016 - 2021, as he is now retiring according to regulations.

In his acceptance speech, Comrade Thai Thanh Quy shared that being selected by the organization and elected by the Provincial People's Council to hold the position of Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee is an honor, but it also places a heavy responsibility on his shoulders before the Party Committee, the government, and the people of the province.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Thai Thanh Quy, also stated that, having taken on the nhiệm vụ (task/responsibility) at a time when the province's development direction has been defined in Resolution No. 26 of the Politburo, with many goals concretized in the Resolution of the 18th Provincial Party Congress; he will continue to strive with all his mind and strength, making the highest efforts, upholding personal responsibility, building unity and consensus, promoting democracy to work with the Provincial People's Committee to effectively direct and manage the implementation of solutions for socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security, contributing to the completion of the goals and tasks set out in the Resolution, and contributing to the development of Nghe An.

Following this, the Provincial People's Council also held a vote to elect Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, a member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee and Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, as Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Committee of the Provincial People's Council. As a result, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong was elected as Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Committee of the Provincial People's Council for the 2016-2021 term with 86 out of 86 votes. The session also voted to approve a Resolution confirming the election results for Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong as Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Committee of the Provincial People's Council.

The Provincial People's Council also voted to approve a Resolution confirming the dismissal of Mr. Ho Phuc Hop from the position of Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Committee of the Provincial People's Council, term 2016-2021, as he has now been transferred to the position of Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Department.

Speaking at the session, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Son – Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council – acknowledged the efforts and thanked Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong and Comrade Ho Phuc Hop for their contributions in their elected positions, which significantly contributed to the socio-economic development, political security, and social order and safety in the province over the past period, as well as contributing to the innovation and improvement of the quality and effectiveness of the Provincial People's Council's activities during the 2016-2021 term.

Congratulating Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Thai Thanh Quy and Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Committee of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Son expressed his hope that they would continue to maximize their abilities, intellect, and qualities to excellently fulfill the tasks entrusted to them by the Party, government, and people, worthy of the trust and confidence of the delegates of the Provincial People's Council.

Emphasizing the heavy workload for the last three months of the year, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Xuan Son requested that all levels, sectors, and individuals recently elected to new positions by the Provincial People's Council immediately begin their work, build upon and inherit the achievements already made, and focus intensely on leadership, direction, and management to complete the goals and tasks for 2018 as set forth in the Provincial People's Council Resolution, while also preparing for the plan for 2019 and subsequent years.

Comrade Thai Thanh Quy was born on April 19, 1976.
