Comrade Vi Van Son holds the position of Director of Nghe An Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions.
When established, Nghe An Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions had a Director and 2 Deputy Directors.
On the morning of March 3, the People's Committee of Nghe An province held a conference to announce the Resolution of the Provincial People's Council on establishing specialized agencies under the Provincial People's Committee and decisions on personnel work.
Resolution No. 07/NQ - HDND, dated February 25, 2025 of the People's Council of Nghe An province, resolving to establish the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions on the basis of (reorganizing the Ethnic Minorities Committee and receiving the functions, tasks, and organizational structure of the Religious Committee under the Department of Home Affairs.

In Decision No. 606/QD-UBND dated February 26, 2025, Comrade Le Hong Vinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province appointed Comrade Vi Van Son - Head of the Provincial Ethnic Minorities Committee (before its establishment), to hold the position of Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Nghe An. This Decision takes effect from the date of signing.
Deputy Heads of the Provincial Ethnic Minorities Department: Luong Van Khanh and Vy My Son (before the establishment of the department) were appointed to the position of Deputy Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Nghe An.
The number of focal points of the two agencies before the merger included 5 departments and equivalent; of which, the Provincial Ethnic Committee had 4 departments and the Religious Committee under the Department of Home Affairs (equivalent to a department under the Department).
It is expected that after the arrangement, merger and consolidation, it will be divided into 4 departments including: Department Office, Department Inspectorate, Policy Department, Planning - Synthesis Department; Religious Affairs Department.
The establishment of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions (on the basis of the Provincial Ethnic Minorities Committee receiving the functions, tasks, and organization of the state management advisory apparatus on religion from the Department of Home Affairs) aims to ensure a streamlined, reasonable, effective, and efficient apparatus structure, meeting the operational requirements of the Department of multi-sectoral, multi-field state management advisory, associated with the completion and clear definition of functions, tasks, and powers; restructuring, streamlining, and improving the quality of cadres, civil servants, and public employees of the Department, meeting the requirements of tasks in the new situation.
