Comrade Vu Dai Thang was elected to the position of Chairman of the People's Committee of Hanoi City.
On the afternoon of November 28th, the third working day of the twenty-eighth session of the 16th term, the Hanoi City People's Council continued its work according to the agenda and carried out personnel matters within its authority.
Attending the meeting were: Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Duy Ngoc; Central Committee member and Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Vu Dai Thang; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong; Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Council Phung Thi Hong Ha; Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Trong Dong; Deputy Head of the Hanoi National Assembly Delegation Nguyen Ngoc Tuan; members of the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the People's Council, leaders of the People's Committee, and the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Hanoi.
Representing Quang Ninh province were: Ms. Trinh Thi Minh Thanh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Bui Van Khang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Vu Quyet Tien, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Ninh province; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee; Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Council; Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee; Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation; and other delegates from Quang Ninh province.
At the meeting, the Hanoi City People's Council relieved Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung of his duties as Chairman of the Hanoi City People's Committee (due to health reasons and personal wishes).
Subsequently, the Hanoi City People's Council elected Comrade Vu Dai Thang, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, to the position of Chairman of the Hanoi City People's Committee for the 16th term, 2021-2026.
Earlier, the Hanoi City Party Committee held a conference to announce the Politburo's decision on personnel matters.
According to a decision of the Politburo, Comrade Vu Dai Thang, Member of the Central Committee of the Party and Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, will cease his participation in the Provincial Party Committee and its Standing Committee, and will relinquish his position as Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term; he will be transferred and appointed to participate in the Hanoi City Party Committee and its Standing Committee, and will hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.
Comrade Vu Dai Thang was born in 1975 in Hanoi; his professional qualifications include a Master's degree in International Relations, a Bachelor's degree in Economics, and a Bachelor's degree in Law; his political theory level is Advanced.
Comrade Vu Dai Thang previously worked for many years at the Ministry of Planning and Investment, holding the position of Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment. From August 2020 to October 2024, he worked in Quang Binh province, serving as Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee. On October 26, 2024, he was transferred and assigned by the Politburo to participate in the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee, and to hold the position of Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, 15th term, 2020-2025.
On September 26th, at the first meeting of the Executive Committee of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, 16th term, 2025-2030, Comrade Vu Dai Thang, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, 15th term, and Head of the Quang Ninh Provincial Delegation to the National Assembly, was re-elected to the position of Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, 16th term, 2025-2030.
