The Quỳnh Lưu – Thanh Hóa 500kV transmission line project has been energized.
On August 19th, the National Power Transmission Corporation and the Central Region Power Projects Management Board, in coordination with relevant units, energized the 500kV circuit 3 transmission line project, the Quynh Luu – Thanh Hoa section, fulfilling the objectives directed by the Prime Minister.
Quỳnh Lưu – Thanh Hóa 500kV transmission line project This is a special-grade, Group A energy project, invested by the National Power Transmission Corporation and operated by Power Transmission Company 1. The project is 92 km long, passing through the provinces of Nghe An and Thanh Hoa.
The project has 200 foundation locations, with 99 anchorage points along the transmission line corridor. Construction began on January 18, 2024, and the investor's acceptance council unanimously agreed to energize the project on the morning of August 19, 2024.
The Quỳnh Lưu - Thanh Hóa 500kV transmission line project has a total investment of over 4,079 billion VND. Of this, the section within Nghệ An province is approximately 17.5 km long, comprising 34 tower foundation locations, corresponding to 34 tower spans, located in: Quỳnh Lưu district (9.80 km, 19 locations) and Hoàng Mai town (7.70 km, 15 locations).

Following the Prime Minister's directive, the power line must be completed to celebrate the 79th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd.
Upon completion, the project will help reduce the load and prevent overloading of existing 500kV lines, ensuring the N-1 criterion. The line will also improve transmission capacity on the North-Central interface, combining with the Quang Trach - Quynh Luu, Thanh Hoa - Nam Dinh I, and Nam Dinh I - Pho Noi 500kV lines to supplement power from North Central region sources to the load centers in the Northern region.
Throughout the implementation process, the project has consistently received attention and guidance from the Prime Minister, ministries, and the leaders of Vietnam Electricity Group. This has been coupled with the support of local authorities in the project areas, and the cooperation of the people who have relinquished their land for the project and participated in supporting the excavation and foundation construction phase.
Deputy General Director of the National Power Transmission Corporation – Truong Huu Thanh
According to the leaders of the National Power Transmission Corporation, in addition to favorable factors, the project implementation process faced many difficulties as the power line passed through many high mountainous areas, many locations were in the forest, and some locations required excavating very large volumes of rock for the foundation.
In addition, given the enormous volume of steel poles required and the short timeframe, the National Power Transmission Corporation, the Central Region Power Projects Management Board, and the contractors have made concerted efforts to focus on production and implement specific solutions to accelerate the production schedule.

Following the Prime Minister's directives with the spirit of "only talking about doing, not talking about retreating," "overcoming the sun, conquering the rain, not losing to the wind and storms," working "3 shifts, 4 teams," "eating quickly, sleeping urgently," the engineers and workers of the units participating in the project have worked with the highest spirit and responsibility to bring the project to completion on schedule.
The leaders of the National Power Transmission Corporation stated: To meet the deadlines set by the Prime Minister, many work items were implemented simultaneously in a short period of time, such as construction, pole erection, wire pulling, installation of positioning frames, and technical adjustments. Therefore, in addition to the main workforce of units under the National Power Transmission Corporation and construction contractors, Vietnam Electricity Group mobilized 5 Electricity Corporations to participate in supporting the construction with a large number of skilled and experienced personnel.

Given the importance of the project, not only the National Power Transmission Corporation, but also the power units of Vietnam Electricity Group and other partner units have demonstrated a high sense of responsibility by participating enthusiastically and diligently, overcoming difficulties and hardships. In addition, Vietnam Electricity Group also received manpower support from Military Region 3, Military Region 4, Viettel Group, Vietnam National Petroleum Group, Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group, etc., to assist in the construction of poles and wire pulling for the projects.
The completion and commissioning of the project, meeting the Prime Minister's directives, is a great impetus for the entire 500kV circuit 3 transmission line project to complete acceptance testing and be inaugurated in the coming days as directed by the Prime Minister.
