The second transformer at the Nam Cam 220kV Substation has been successfully energized.
On May 28th, the National Power Transmission Corporation and related units successfully energized the second transformer at the Nam Cam 220kV Substation, increasing the total substation capacity to 500MVA. This contributes to strengthening the safe and stable power supply for Nghe An and the northern region during the peak of the hot season.
At 7:51 AM on May 28th, EVNNPT, Power Transmission Company 1 (PTC1), in coordination with the Northern Power System Dispatch Center and related units, successfully energized the second transformer at the 220kV Nam Cam Substation in Nghe An province.
The project was implemented on the substation's reserve area, with the installation of an AT1 220/110/22kV transformer with a capacity of 250MVA, along with synchronized equipment on the 220kV and 110kV sides. Upon completion, the total capacity of the Nam Cam 220kV Substation was increased to 500MVA, double that of before.
The commissioning of the new transformer contributes to strengthening the power supply capacity for Nghe An province and the northern region, improving the reliability and safety of the power system's operation. The project also helps to reduce the load on the 220kV Do Luong and 220kV Vinh substations amidst increasing electricity demand.
According to PTC1, before the project was completed, the existing transformers at the Nam Cam 220kV Substation frequently operated at full load, and even overloaded at times, posing a potential risk to electricity supply.
The construction process faced many difficulties due to being carried out while the substation was still energized and the requirement to ensure continuous power supply to the northern region during the hot season. However, with the close guidance of EVNNPT and the coordination of relevant units, the project was completed on schedule.
The successful energization of the second transformer at the Nam Cam 220kV Substation is of significant importance in enhancing power transmission capacity and ensuring a safe and stable power supply for Nghe An and the North during the peak summer season of 2026.
