After receiving information and conducting an investigation, on November 15, the authorities arrested Nguyen Huy Hung, the perpetrator of the theft, while he was hiding in his hometown of Phu Tho.
At the police station, Hung confessed that because he had no stable job and needed money to spend, he had the intention to steal. Previously, this young man had been to the store on Nguyen Chi Thanh Street many times so he knew the location of the assets displayed inside.
With experience as an electrician, the subject observed the layout of the electrical wiring system and cameras to plan his actions.
At around 7pm on September 4, Hung lied that he was going to fix a sign next to the store. At 10pm the same day, when all the store employees had left, he broke in and quickly disabled the camera's power source.
Then, the subject used a cutting machine to cut the lock of the safe, took away 15 cell phones, 3 laptops, and many necklaces, bracelets, and gold rings with a total value of more than 400 million VND... and then fled back to his hometown.
On the morning of September 7, Hung took a bus to Hanoi to sell the stolen property to several mobile phone stores in Hanoi. He sold the stolen gold to gold and silver stores in Kim Chung commune, Dong Anh district (Hanoi) and many other locations.
In further investigation, Nguyen Huy Hung also confessed that, in addition to the above theft, on October 30, he stole 15 mobile phones at another location on Huynh Thuc Khang Street, Lang Ha Ward, Dong Da District (Hanoi). The case is currently being further investigated./.
