Contributing the people's strength to light up the rural roads.
(Baonghean.vn) - Nearly 3 km of inter-commune roads and dozens of village alleyways in Quynh Hung commune have been illuminated thanks to voluntary contributions from local residents...
Taking us on a tour of the 400-meter-long inter-communal road along hamlets 4 and 5, which features over 40 new high-pressure lamps installed just two weeks ago, Ms. Tran Thi Luyen – Hamlet Head and Deputy Secretary of the Party Branch of Hamlet 4, Quynh Hung Commune – enthusiastically said: “In response to the new rural development program, when the inter-communal road connecting Quynh Hong, Quynh Hung, and Quynh Ngoc was built to be spacious and clean but lacked a lighting system, after research, investigation, and discussion, the Party branch decided to mobilize the people to install a lighting system to facilitate travel and daily life.”

After consulting with the people and holding open, democratic meetings, 36 households in hamlets 4 and 5, located along the inter-communal road, voluntarily contributed an average of 1 million VND each to purchase equipment for installation. Tasks such as site surveying, welding and erecting power poles, pulling wires, and installing light bulbs were all done by the villagers themselves. The installation was completed in nearly a month.
Ms. Luyen said: "After installing the streetlights, the village roads and alleys are not only brighter and more beautiful, but also much more convenient for people's travel. Every evening, the lights are switched on, replacing the previous darkness; the number of traffic accidents occurring at night has decreased significantly; security and order are also better ensured; and theft has been reduced. Because of these practical benefits, the villagers have competed with each other to implement the system, and now 100% of the village roads and alleys, with a total length of over 400 meters, have been illuminated."
In addition to the money contributed for installing streetlights in the village, the monthly electricity bill is also paid in turns by the households, averaging around 7,000-10,000 VND per household per month.

Not only the Party Branches of Hamlet 4 and Hamlet 5, but also many other Party branches in Quynh Hung commune have effectively registered to implement the construction of rural road lighting systems. Based on propaganda, mobilization, research, and open and widespread discussions among the people, all five hamlets with residents living along the inter-commune road have voluntarily contributed money to install the lighting system.
To date, the entire inter-communal road connecting Quynh Hung, Quynh Hong, and Quynh Ngoc has been illuminated with a high-voltage lighting system on both sides, featuring over 100 lampposts. The total cost, exceeding 100 million VND, was entirely contributed by the local people. Notably, the Quynh Hung commune has utilized the lampposts in easily visible locations to display billboards and posters promoting the new rural development program.
Now, every time night falls, the inter-village and inter-commune roads in Quynh Hung are brightly lit. The light of consensus has brought convenience to the lives of the people and contributed to connecting and strengthening the bonds of community.
Comrade Nguyen Xuan Nien – Secretary of the Party Committee of Quynh Hung commune, said: "Although newly implemented, the model of 'Propagating and mobilizing cadres, members and people to support the installation of streetlights on roads' in 5 villages along the inter-commune route has made a strong impression due to its effectiveness. The locality will continue to propagate and mobilize people to contribute and expand this model to other villages to contribute to changing the face of the rural area." |
