Last year, the socio-economic conditions in Japan were not very good, the Yen fell in value, jobs were unstable, overtime was low, etc., which had a significant impact on the lives of Vietnamese workers in general and Nghe An - Ha Tinh workers in particular in Japan. However, on this New Year's Day, our fellow countrymen from Nghe Tinh living and working all over Japan still organized many joyful activities to welcome the new year 2018.

Making Chung cake to welcome the New Year of Nghe Tinh compatriots in Okayama

In Okayama, the Nghe Tinh Association here had been preparing to celebrate the New Year for several days before. They had planned the program, widely announced it on social networks, organized the wrapping and cooking of Chung cakes, and prepared traditional dishes (ham, sticky rice with beans, pickled vegetables, etc.).

From the morning of December 31, people gathered early at the foot of Usoga Bridge to decorate for the ceremony. Nearly 90 young people working in Okayama Prefecture and neighboring areas gathered here to celebrate the New Year.

The program lasted from noon until late at night. In addition to listening to reports and discussions, fellow countrymen also awarded commemorative medals to those who were about to return home, called for donations, helped families in difficult circumstances in their homeland, and enjoyed a culinary festival.

Tran Sy Trung (from Dien Chau) working in Nagoya said: “This year, due to special conditions in Nagoya, the Association of Fellow Countrymen could not organize a meeting, so I had to go to Okayama to celebrate with my friends. The atmosphere of celebrating Tet here is so warm.”

In the Kanto region, Nghe Tinh compatriots living and working in 7 provinces and cities (Tokyo, Chiba, Saitama, Gunma, Tochigi, Ybaraki, Kanagawa) gathered at Shin-matsudo station, Chiba province to welcome the new year.

In the open and warm atmosphere of fellow countrymen, everyone listened to the reports of the groups, exchanged their thoughts, and shared in the fun games with prizes. A special impression was the folk singing contest in Japan.
