Raid on gambling den in the forest, arrest dozens of subjects
(Baonghean.vn) - Choosing a rugged mountainous area, bordering Tan Ky and Quy Hop districts, dozens of people gathered to gamble in the form of dice shaking for money. This gathering place was recently raided by Tan Ky district police, arresting many related subjects.
In early March 2024, through the work of grasping the situation, Tan Ky District Police discovered in the mountainous area of Giai Xuan Commune, Tan Ky District (bordering Quy Hop District) there was a group of people who regularly gathered to gamble for money in the form of "dice shaking". To effectively combat this group, Tan Ky District Police established a special project to fight.
However, because the subjects often organize gambling in deep forests, with strict security arrangements, when they see the authorities, the subjects immediately notify the "gamblers" to flee in time, making the capture extremely difficult.
After more than half a month of perseverance, sticking to the area, determined to pursue, using many professional measures, at 4:00 p.m. on March 15, 2024, in the mountainous forest area of Giai Xuan commune, Tan Ky District Police mobilized 3 working groups with more than 30 officers and soldiers to simultaneously raid the gambling den, arrest 11 subjects, confiscate and temporarily detain 86.5 million VND, 6 motorbikes, 15 mobile phones, 1 double plastic mat, 1 set of dishes, 4 dice used for gambling.
The police identified the person who set up the gambling den as Nguyen Van Hieu (born in 1993), residing in Giai Xuan commune, Tan Ky district. This person has two previous convictions for gambling. Several other people who participated in gambling in the group also have previous convictions for many crimes.
Expanding the case, on March 19, 2024, Tan Ky District Police arrested 2 more cases, 8 subjects residing in Tan Ky District, Thai Hoa Town and Vinh City for gambling, confiscating 51 million VND.
Currently, Tan Ky District Police are continuing to investigate, expand the case, arrest the remaining subjects and consolidate the case file to strictly handle according to the provisions of law.
