A historic breakthrough on the Korean Peninsula.

Athletes from South Korea and North Korea will march together at the 2018 Winter Olympics under the same flag.

This is the result achieved by both sides at the third round of dialogue on January 17th, following several days of meetings in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) separating the two countries. This development is considered an unprecedented breakthrough in the history of sports exchanges between the two countries, a sign of a "thawing" in bilateral relations since Kim Jong Un left open the possibility of dialogue with South Korea in his 2018 New Year's message.

CNN, citing a statement from South Korea's Ministry of Unification, added that the two delegations will march together at the Pyeongchang Olympic opening ceremony under a single flag representing a unified Korean Peninsula. The flag will feature a blue image of the Korean Peninsula on a white background.

The two countries also formed a joint women's ice hockey team to participate in the Olympics. Skiers from both sides will train together at a resort in North Korea before the games begin. Representatives from both countries will also hold a joint cultural event there.
