Coffee price forecast for December 21st: Falling to the lowest level of the month.
Coffee prices in the Central Highlands on December 21st are forecast to fall by approximately 15% and be 30% lower than the same period last year, fluctuating between 88,500 and 89,300 VND, the lowest since the beginning of the month.
Domestic coffee prices on December 20th
According to the update on December 20th, the price of bulk green coffee beans in the Central Highlands provinces continued to adjust downwards by 200-500 VND/kg compared to the previous session, bringing the price level to its lowest point since the beginning of December 2025. Currently, domestic purchase prices are fluctuating between 88,500 and 89,300 VND/kg.
In key growing regions, prices have uniformly decreased. Dak Lak, the locality with the highest price, saw a drop of 500 VND/kg to 89,300 VND/kg. Meanwhile, Lam Dong had the lowest price at 88,500 VND/kg, a decrease of 200 VND/kg.

World coffee prices are showing mixed trends.
On international exchanges, coffee futures prices showed divergence. According to the Vietnam Commodity Exchange (MXV), the performance of Robusta and Arabica coffee differed significantly in the most recent trading session.
On the ICE Futures Europe exchange, Robusta prices saw a slight increase across longer maturities. The January 2026 contract rose $4 to $3,778 per ton. Similarly, the September 2026 contract increased $11 to $3,538 per ton, indicating continued buying interest in futures contracts.
Conversely, Arabica coffee prices on the ICE Futures US exchange continued to face downward pressure. The March 2026 contract lost 4.45 cents/lb, falling to 340.65 cents/lb. The December 2026 contract also decreased by 1.7 cents/lb, to 303.6 cents/lb.
The Brazilian Arabica coffee market also saw mixed movements. The December 2025 contract rose slightly by 1.0 cent/lb to 417.85 cents/lb. However, the September 2026 contract fell by 1.85 cents/lb to 381.7 cents/lb.
Coffee prices are forecast to continue cooling down on December 21st.
The European Parliament has approved a 12-month postponement of the EU's Anti-Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) with 405 votes in favor. According to Mr. Nguyen Nam Hai, Chairman of the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (VICOFA), this decision will further cool down the rapid increase in coffee prices that has lasted for more than two years.
The EUDR is expected to take effect from December 30, 2025, for large businesses and traders, while small businesses and individuals will apply from June 30, 2027. Some related procedures have also been simplified, giving businesses more time to adapt.
Mr. Nam Hai believes that coffee prices may continue to fall in the short term due to improved supply, favorable domestic harvest, and good weather in Brazil. However, a significant drop is unlikely because global coffee consumption demand remains high.
In the Central Highlands, continuously falling prices are causing concern among many orchard owners, but they are not in a hurry to sell, waiting for an opportunity for prices to recover. Meanwhile, businesses are taking advantage of the situation to sell their produce to recover capital and prepare for the new purchasing season.
