Accordingly, widespread thunderstorms and localized heavy rain, tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind are forecast for the North Central region.
Currently (May 23), the low-pressure trough with its axis at approximately 21-23 degrees North latitude continues to be compressed and pushed southward by the strengthening continental high-pressure system in the north.
Forecasts indicate that, due to the influence of a compressed low-pressure trough combined with wind convergence at an altitude of 1,500m, Thanh Hoa will experience showers and scattered thunderstorms from late afternoon and tonight (May 23), with localized heavy rain, with rainfall amounts ranging from 20-40mm/24h, and in some places exceeding 60mm/24h.
From late afternoon and night of May 23-24, the area from Nghe An to Ha Tinh will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, with localized moderate to heavy rain, with rainfall amounts of 10-30mm/24h, and in some places over 50mm/24h.
