Weather forecast for the next 10 days, the North and Central regions will be hot and sunny for many days but need to be on guard for showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting issued a weather forecast for the next 10 days, warning of severe heat for many days in the North and Central regions.

During the next 24 to 48 hours, the Northern Delta region along with the south of Son La and Hoa Binh will experience a heat wave with the highest temperature ranging from 35 to 36 degrees Celsius, even in some places the temperature will exceed 36 degrees Celsius.

Provinces from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen will also be affected by the heat, with the highest temperatures expected to range from 35 to 37 degrees Celsius, and likely to rise above 37 degrees Celsius in some localities.

The southern region of Son La and Hoa Binh, along with the Northern Delta and Central regions, is expected to continue to endure severe heat waves in the next few days.

According to the meteorological agency's forecast, the difference between the temperature reported in the news and the actual temperature felt outdoors can be up to 2-4 degrees Celsius, especially when considering factors such as concrete or asphalt surfaces.

Thunderstorm news in the North and South

The Northwest and Viet Bac regions recorded heavy showers and thunderstorms last night and this morning, August 6, with local rainfall exceeding 60mm.

The provinces of the Central Highlands and the Southeast also witnessed similar weather, with some places experiencing particularly heavy rain.

Rainfall measured from 7pm on August 5 to 3am on August 6 showed high rainfall levels, with Trinh Tuong 1 (Lao Cai) 80.6mm and Ha Lang (Tuyen Quang) 122.4mm.

It is forecasted that during the day and night of August 6, rain will continue with an amount of 20-40mm in the Northwest and Viet Bac, and may reach over 90mm in some areas.

The Central Highlands and the South are expected to have showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening of August 6, with rainfall ranging from 15-30mm, locally over 70mm.

The Central region will also have showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening, but only in some places.

In the coming hours, there is a risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes in some provinces in the North, especially in the following districts:

Son La: Bac Yen, Mai Son, Moc Chau, Muong La, Quynh Nhai, Song Ma, Sop Cop, Thuan Chau, Van Ho, Yen Chau.

Hoa Binh: Mai Chau.

Thanh Hoa: Muong Lat, Quan Hoa, Quan Son

Lai Chau: Lai Chau city, Muong Te, Phong Tho, Sin Ho, Tam Duong, Tan Uyen, Than Uyen.

Dien Bien: Tuan Giao.

Lao Cai: Bac Ha, Bao Yen, Bat Xat, Sa Pa.

Yen Bai: Luc Yen.

Ha Giang: Bac Quang, Ha Giang City, Hoang Su Phi, Quang Binh, Vi Xuyen, Xin Man.

Tuyen Quang: Chiem Hoa.

On August 6, weather warning for the East Sea and southern areas, including Truong Sa, from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau, and from Ca Mau to Kien Giang, as well as the Gulf of Thailand: heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecast.

In particular, there is a high risk of tornadoes and strong gusts of wind at level 7-8 during thunderstorms.

In addition, the southwest wind is forecast to strengthen to level 5, even level 6, and can gust up to level 7 in the area from Khanh Hoa to Binh Thuan, with waves 2-3 meters high and rough seas.

From August 7 to August 15, weather warning: sudden showers and thunderstorms in the Northwest and Viet Bac.

Heat waves may appear in the Northern Delta, Son La and Hoa Binh from August 8 to August 10, with harsh weather conditions in some areas.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to return to the North on the night of August 10, with the possibility of localized heavy rain.

During this time, the Central region will experience heat waves, especially severe heat in some places.

The Central Highlands and the South are forecast to have showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening.

Be prepared for the possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong winds during thunderstorms.

Localized heavy rain may cause flash floods, landslides and flooding in low-lying and urban areas, caution is advised.
