At this squid market, there are about 100 vendors selling their wares every night, mostly women. Typically, the husband in each family goes out squid fishing from 4 PM each day and returns around 7-8 PM. Once the boat docks, all the caught squid is immediately brought out by the wife to sell, ensuring freshness. (Photo: QA)

After being brought ashore, the squid are divided into small bunches and placed in trays for sale to tourists. What's special is that this type of squid isn't sold by weight; instead, buyers and sellers estimate the quantity and agree on a price. Typically, each tray contains 6-10 squids, depending on size, ranging from 100,000 to 200,000 VND. (Photo: QA)

Besides simply steaming, squid can also be enjoyed in many other ways such as dipping in sour sauce, making salads, stir-frying... In addition, it can be eaten raw with soy sauce and mustard - this is a fairly popular way to enjoy it nowadays. Because squid is both a specialty and a highlight of experiential tourism for visitors, since 2023, Cua Lo has planned and arranged concentrated squid selling points, with functional forces on duty to ensure environmental hygiene and security.
