Nearly 1,500 athletes are expected to participate in the Puxailaileng Peak Marathon.
(Baonghean.vn) - The 2024 Western Nghe An Marathon "Returning to the mountainous region - Conquering Puxailaileng peak, the roof of the Truong Son mountain range" will be held from February 17-18, 2024 (corresponding to the 8th-9th day of the first lunar month) in Ky Son district.
On the afternoon of January 10th, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, the Department of Information and Communications, and the Provincial Journalists Association held a press briefing for January 2024.
At the conference, the Chairman of the Ky Son District People's Committee, Nguyen Viet Hung, provided information about the 2024 Western Nghe An Marathon "Returning to the mountainous region - Conquering Puxailaileng peak, the roof of the Truong Son mountain range".

Accordingly, the tournament is expected to be held from February 17-18, 2024 (which is the 8th-9th day of the first lunar month). The opening ceremony will take place at Block 4, Muong Xen town, Ky Son district.

The 2024 Mararhon "Returning to the Mountainous Region - Conquering Puxailaileng Peak, the Roof of the Truong Son Mountain Range" is a high-quality, expanded district-level competition, attracting professional athletes from both within and outside the country, with an expected 1,500 participants. The competition will feature national athletes such as Le Van Tuan and Doan Ngoc Hai, among others.

The athletes competed in four distances (42 km, 21 km, 10 km, and 5 km).

- Distance: 42 kmStarting from Pụng village, Mường Ải commune, along the DT-543 road – Huồi Khe village - Xốp Xăng village - Xốp Lau village - Xốp Phong village - Na My village - Vàng Phao village - Xốp Típ village - Sập Phe village - Chà Lạt village - Vàng Ngô village - Ta Đo village - Nhãn Lý village - Nhãn Cù village - Cánh - Đích village (approximately 500m from the intersection of National Highway 7 and DT 534D).
- Distance: 21 kmStarting from the People's Committee of Muong Tip commune on the DT-543D road - Ta Do village - Nhan Ly village - Nhan Cu village - Canh - Dich village (approximately 500m from the intersection of National Highway 7 and DT-543D).
- Distance: 10 kmStarting from provincial road DT-543 (approximately 500m from the intersection of National Highway 7 and provincial road DT-543D) - Canh village - Nhan Cu village - and returning to the destination.
- Distance: 5 kmStarting from the DT-543D road (approximately 500m from the intersection of National Highway 7 and DT-543D) - Canh village - and returning to the destination.
To ensure the successful organization of the event, the organizing committee proactively planned transportation for athletes, logistics, security, medical services, and media coverage.

This is the first time the mararhon competition has been held in the mountainous district of Ky Son, organized through a socialized model. The total prize money is 378 million VND, including cash and in-kind prizes (of which 178 million VND is cash).
The race was organized as a sporting event to celebrate the Party and the Lunar New Year of the Dragon 2024, aiming to spread the sport of running to the community and international friends, creating a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere, and enhancing the cultural and spiritual enjoyment of the people. This activity also strengthens solidarity, promotes the practice and competition of sports in general and running in particular, contributing to the "National Movement for Physical Training Following the Example of the Great President Ho Chi Minh".

This race aims to showcase the majestic scenery, cultural beauty, cuisine, and people of Ky Son mountainous region to everyone, contributing to the promotion and development of tourism and the local economy. Each step taken by the athletes will contribute a small amount to the Warm Clothes Fund, which provides clothing for underprivileged children from ethnic minority communities in remote, mountainous, and border areas.
