Nghe An Tourism: Still many limitations and obstacles to becoming a key economic sector
(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An's tourism development has not yet met its potential and expectations. There are many tourism products but they are not attractive and lack competitiveness. Service quality has not yet met tourists' requirements.
On the afternoon of July 19, the Provincial People's Committee held a meeting to listen to and give opinions on the 5-year summary report on the implementation of Resolution No. 08 - NQ/TW dated January 16, 2017 of the Politburo on developing the tourism industry into a spearhead economic sector.
Comrade Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the meeting. Attending the meeting were representatives of the Provincial People's Committee Office, relevant departments and branches; leaders of Nam Dan district, Vinh city and Cua Lo town.

At the meeting, the leaders of the Department of Tourism presented the Draft Report on the 5-year review of the implementation of Resolution No. 08 - NQ/TW. Accordingly, in the past 5 years, the awareness of all levels and sectors in the province towards tourism has changed a lot, and coordination has become more and more smooth. Activitiestourismcontinue to develop in the right direction. Investment in infrastructure and tourism facilities has changed positively, with some high-class projects initially appearing. Tourism products are more diverse, and quality has been significantly improved.
The work of preserving and promoting traditional cultural values associated with tourism development has received attention. Cooperation and association in tourism development with provinces, cities and large tourism corporations and enterprises continue to be expanded... State management of tourism has been strengthened, a safe, civilized and friendly tourism environment has been ensured, creating trust for tourists when coming to Nghe An.

However,tourismNghe An still has many problems: Although tourism products have improved, they have not made a breakthrough; there are no products that create a brand for Nghe An tourism and have strong appeal to tourists from other provinces; there is a lack of entertainment, night shopping services for tourists to extend their stay and increase their spending; it has not attracted many professional investors, especially large-scale foreign investors.
SomeprojectKey tourism areas are almost not implemented or implemented very slowly. Human resources for tourism and related areas are still lacking in professionalism... Cooperation and association between Nghe An and neighboring countries Laos and Thailand to promote international tourism have not brought about the desired results. Tourism promotion and advertising activities lack depth and focus, the form is still monotonous, the effectiveness and spread are not high.
During the meeting, representatives of departments, branches and localities focused on further analyzing the current limitations and shortcomings of Nghe An tourism. Concluding the meeting, comrade Bui Dinh Long requested: Nghe An Department of Tourism to receive opinions from all levels, branches and localities to soon complete the report. In particular, it is necessary to clearly state the implementation of the goals set out in Resolution 08-NQ/TW, Action Program No. 55-CTr/TU and Plan 62/KH-UBND.

It is necessary to clearly see that the tourism development of Nghe An is still not commensurate with its potential and expectations. There are many tourism products but they are not attractive and lack competitiveness. Service quality has not met the requirements of tourists. Tourism enterprises are small enterprises. Tourism infrastructure and accommodation facilities are not guaranteed. The distance between destinations is too far. The connectivity between regions and tourist attractions is not high. Destinations are simple, hygiene is not guaranteed. The climate and weather are not favorable. Beach tourism is lagging behind other localities, with shortcomings in landscape, noise pollution, and soliciting of tourists.
The Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee also suggested: Nghe An Tourism Industry should consider this as a period of re-evaluation of its development. From there, the industry has recommendations for Party committees and authorities to allocate more investment resources, so that tourism can truly become a spearhead economic sector by 2030./.
