A week after the newspaper's report, Vinh City police intervened and fined 85 drivers for using high beams in urban areas.
"Outrage over the use of high beams in the city."
"Vinh City Police fined 85 people for using high beams in the city center."
This is very good news for many people. For a long time, the problem of using high beams while driving in Vinh City has caused much inconvenience and frustration for road users. We are very grateful to Nghe An Newspaper for publishing the article, which led to the police taking timely action. Public opinion is currently very welcoming of the actions of both authorities.

As we know, for vehicles like motorcycles and cars, turning on headlights at night helps drivers have a better view and be more proactive. However, many people still often confuse high beam and low beam headlights.
Improper use of headlights obstructs the vision of oncoming drivers or even those traveling in the same direction ahead. In some situations, headlights can cause accidents because oncoming drivers cannot observe the traffic situation in time to react. This is extremely dangerous when participating in traffic and can cause accidents and collisions on the road.
Speaking with Mr. Bui Van Sy, 60 years old, from Doi Cung ward, he expressed his frustration: "Vehicle owners have been taught traffic laws, but even when entering urban areas or residential zones, they still don't switch to low beam headlights. Sometimes, they even leave their high beam headlights on when parked on the side of the road, causing inconvenience to oncoming vehicles."
In fact, when driving in urban areas, the streetlights and high volume of traffic provide sufficient illumination for visibility ahead, making the use of high beams unnecessary. On highways outside densely populated areas, high beams can be used, but it's necessary to switch to low beams when encountering oncoming traffic to ensure traffic safety. This not only complies with traffic laws but also demonstrates good traffic etiquette, avoiding penalties and endangering oncoming vehicles.

Recently, the Vinh City police force has issued fines to 85 cases, which is very commendable. We hope Nghe An Newspaper will continue to investigate similar cases. Besides the reckless use of high beams, which causes danger, there are many other traffic violations that some individuals intentionally or unintentionally commit, such as using horns excessively, especially large trucks, which honk very loudly, causing noise pollution and terrifying other road users. We hope that Nghe An Newspaper will continue to report on these violations so that everyone can live in a more peaceful environment.
Using car lights correctly and legally isn't too difficult. The important thing lies in each person's awareness and consciousness. We just need to pay a little more attention; a simple action of switching between high and low beams at the right time and place will reduce inconvenience for many other road users and contribute to improving traffic safety for ourselves and everyone else. Using car lights according to regulations also reflects good traffic etiquette.
