According to the initial investigation, due to needing money, Thuy came up with the idea of using social media to "trap" men and young men who were "looking for novelty" in Binh Thuan province in order to steal their property.
After getting acquainted with a young man in Ham Thuan Bac district, on the evening of August 7th, Thuy messaged him, inviting him to Phan Thiet city for a "private conversation" at a budget guesthouse. She crushed four sleeping pills into powder, wrapped it in paper, and brought it to the meeting place.
Thuy put sleeping pills in the beer and drugged the young man. When the victim became unconscious, she stole his phone (worth 3.5 million VND) and 70,000 VND before fleeing on his Exciter motorbike. After selling the motorbike for over 30 million VND, Thuy gambled and spent the money.
A week earlier, using a similar tactic, Thuy had robbed a young man of his Air Blade motorbike and iPhone.
The investigating agency is expanding the case, suspecting that Thuy may have committed crimes against other people as well.
