The United Nations' food reserves in Aleppo are running out.

(Baonghean.vn) - A UN representative stated that UN food reserves in the eastern part of Aleppo, controlled by rebels, have been depleted. Meanwhile, there is very little medicine and other supplies remaining in the city. No UN aid convoys have reached Aleppo since July.

The representative also warned that the impending winter weather would be a real "destroyer" and that the United Nations (UN) urgently needed approval for its aid plan for eastern Aleppo. This plan includes providing medical care and food, as well as deploying medical teams to the area where hundreds of thousands of civilians are trapped.

According to him, the UN is very concerned about the escalating attacks and fighting in Aleppo, including reports of indiscriminate bombing and shelling. These continuous attacks are not only causing heavy casualties and injuries to civilians, but also damaging civilian infrastructure.

According to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon's report on the humanitarian situation in Syria, eastern Aleppo is one of 16 besieged Syrian settlements. The area is home to 970,000 people, but in October alone, only 286,000 received humanitarian aid.

Although Russia and the Syrian government unilaterally declared a three-day ceasefire last October, it failed to achieve the goal of evacuating civilians from rebel-controlled areas, as well as encouraging rebel fighters to withdraw from the city.

The second "humanitarian ceasefire" was implemented on November 4th, lasting for 10 hours in eastern Aleppo, to further facilitate the withdrawal of civilians and rebel fighters from areas held by rebel groups. According to the United Nations, approximately 275,000 civilians remain trapped in eastern Aleppo.
