Two Colombian soldiers clung to the national flag below a helicopter flying over the stage on August 11, but the cable snapped and they fell to their deaths.

A video circulating on social media shows two Colombian air force soldiers risking their lives by hanging under a cable carrying a giant Colombian flag that was being pulled by a helicopter over a stage celebrating the traditional flower festival in Medellin, Colombia's second largest city.

As the helicopter flew over the flower festival, the two soldiers even waved to the crowd below. However, the cable snapped shortly after, causing the two soldiers to fall to the ground.

Colombia’s Defense Ministry said two soldiers died in the incident, with the national flag still draped around them. Local authorities later closed the airport while the Colombian military investigated the accident.
