Germany raids refugee center after residents resist police arrest.
On May 3rd, German police raided a refugee center in the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg after migrants at the center resisted arrest three days prior.
Police searched for weapons and gathered evidence against 27 people suspected of resisting arrest in the incident that occurred on April 30.
On April 30, four police officers arrived at the center to arrest a Togolese refugee and send him back to Italy, his first port of call in Europe.
However, the police were forced to retreat after about 150 migrants, mostly Africans, in the center surrounded two police vehicles and threatened them until the officers handed over the keys to unlock the handcuffs of the Togolese refugees.
According to Deputy Commander of the regional police force, Bernhard Weber, this incident is "unprecedented" since the wave of more than 1 million migrants seeking asylum in the country began in 2015.
