Germany and Russia to resume energy cooperation soon?
Cooperation between Russia and Germany in the energy sector could be resumed within the next 10 years.

According to RT on November 16, Steffen Conte, a member of the German Parliament from the Alternative for Germany party, in an interview with RIA Novosti, called for the resumption of energy cooperation between Russia and Germany. He expressed hope that this cooperation will be resumed quickly in the next 10 years.
MP Steffen Conte strongly criticized Germany's possible sale of Nord Stream 2 to US investor Stephen Lynch. "It's crazy. It's a sign of irrational politics. This is how Europe, and especially Germany, is being plundered, because of the obsession to end cooperation with Russia," he said.
The MP noted that, despite claims that Germany has refused energy resources from Russia, in fact Berlin continues to purchase them through intermediaries, for which it pays significantly more.
"Germany and Russia can restore the project without any problems. However, the German government only wants to invite a third party because they do not want to do anything themselves," said MP Steffen Conte.
Asked if talks on the matter were underway between German and US companies, Mr Conte said he had no such information.
American investor Stephen Lynch first expressed interest in buying the Nord Stream 2 pipeline late last year. According to The New York Times, Lynch believes Europe will eventually return to Russian gas. In May, he tried to convince senior German officials of his “bold plan to buy the Russian underground pipeline,” the newspaper reported.
In June, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that the government had not received any requests from anyone to purchase gas pipelines.
