Russia will take measures in response to threats to its security, Vladimir Shamanov, head of the State Duma's Defense Committee, said in response to the statement of the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that NATO would have to take “measures” if Russia did not return to compliance with the INF Treaty. According to Mr. Stoltenberg, Russia has only 5 weeks left to “save the treaty”, and if Russia does not comply, NATO will have “a proper and coordinated response”.

"Mr. Stoltenberg is an irresponsible talker. Therefore, we do not pay much attention to his opinion," said Vladimir Shamanov, head of the State Duma's Defense Committee.

"The Russian president has made it clear that wherever American means appear that threaten Russia's security, there we will take retaliatory measures. We will do it precisely, and we will not care what they decide to do," Shamanov told Sputnik.
