(Baonghean.vn) - A king cobra hiding in a rock crevice by the roadside to shed its skin was discovered and captured by a group of local men.

The incident occurred on National Highway 7A near Ba village, Huu Kiem commune, Ky Son district (Nghe An province). The snake, believed to be a highly venomous king cobra, was hiding in a rock crevice beside the highway. A young man from Ba village, Huu Kiem commune, passing by spotted it and called his friends to help capture it.

They brought fishing nets and sticks to dig through the soil and rocks where the snake was hiding. It took quite a bit of effort, almost half an hour, before the snake finally revealed itself. It slithered quickly from the mountainside along the road down into the drainage ditch, but the group of villagers threw nets and used sticks to pin it down and catch it.

At this moment, the group of young people discovered that the snake was shedding its skin. There was still a layer of old skin on its neck that hadn't been completely replaced. That's why it had to hide in the rock crevice.

"It's shedding its skin, that's why it's so slow and weak. If it were healthy, it would be even harder to catch," commented one of the snake-catching team members.

The snake weighed about 0.8kg, and the group of young men then loaded it onto their motorbike and drove away. They discussed selling it to a buyer in the nearby area.
