Using fake land ownership certificates to fraudulently obtain mortgages and embezzle nearly 3 billion VND.

Dao Chi Nguyen (residing in Can Tho City) used social media to order five forged land use right certificates, then mortgaged them to Ms. BTT (residing in the same locality), defrauding her of a total of 2.8 billion VND.

On the afternoon of March 21, the Criminal Investigation Department of the Can Tho City Police announced that they had temporarily detained Dao Chi Nguyen (born in 1989, residing in Thanh Hoa commune, Can Tho City) for the offenses of "Fraudulent appropriation of property" and "Using forged documents of agencies and organizations".

According to the investigation, due to needing money to pay debts and for personal expenses, from April 2024 to August 2024, Nguyen used Facebook to order five forged land use right certificates in his name, then mortgaged them to Ms. BTT (born in 1989, residing in the same locality) to embezzle a total of 2.8 billion VND.

In order to gain the victim's trust, Nguyen continued to forge numerous land transfer contracts from himself to Ms. T. Nguyen confessed that he used all the embezzled money for personal expenses. The case is currently under expanded investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department of the Can Tho City Police.
