Using eggshells and coffee grounds to make interior for Porsche 911

While manufacturers are investing in and developing electric vehicles for the future to reduce carbon emissions, other brands are also starting to introduce designs and equipment that are closer to nature and suitable for the environment. Recently, Callum used many types of daily waste, but mainly eggshells and coffee grounds, to complete the interior of an old Porsche 911.

While other brands also create environmentally friendly materials that are more difficult to exploit, Callum has created "green materials" that are closer to everyday life. The company has separated used coffee grounds, eggshells, red bean pulp, walnuts and rice to create the elegant interior of this Porsche 911.

Callum, who consulted companies that create eco-friendly materials, discovered that eggshells mixed with resin can create a smooth, opaque material with a glossy or matte finish. Callum used it to make window regulators. Adding walnuts to the mix increases the recycled content to 84%.

Meanwhile, rice and red beans can be combined to create an opaque material for lamp covers, switches, etc. Used coffee grounds can be used as a substitute for flame retardants. A fabric called Camira made from marine plastic waste is finished into seats and Feline, a soft material made from PET plastic bottles, is made into seat cushions.

Callum is also currently researching and developing alternative interior materials to make the car as environmentally friendly as possible. BMW has also revealed that the iVision is made from 100% recycled materials and Volvo has also made certain efforts to use sustainable materials for use in the EX90.
