If a motorbike is parked on the sidewalk for a few minutes, will AI cameras record it and issue a fine later?
I ride my motorbike, and sometimes I stop on the sidewalk for a few minutes to go into a shop to buy something before leaving again. In this case, if the area has AI surveillance cameras, will I be fined for a traffic violation? This is a question from Ms. Hoang Thi Th. (Vinh Phu Ward, Nghe An Province).
Reply:According to the 2024 Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety, sidewalks are designated for pedestrians. Drivers are prohibited from stopping or parking on pedestrian areas, except in cases where there are signs, markings, or organizational plans allowing the temporary use of the sidewalk for parking.
Clause 2, Article 7 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP stipulates: The driver of a motorcycle or mopedstopping or parking illegallymay be finedfrom 400,000 to 600,000 VND.
Currently, several provinces have deployed AI camera systems to monitor traffic and urban order. This system can record violations such as illegal parking on roads or sidewalks, providing evidence for authorities to verify and issue fines remotely.
Therefore, stopping a motorbike on the sidewalk to go into a shop to buy something, even for a short time,Even if you park outside of a designated parking area, you can still be recorded by cameras and fined.in accordance with the law.
