According to RIA Novosti on December 3, the Pentagon calculated that the total amount of US military aid to Ukraine under the administration of US President Joe Biden has exceeded 62 billion USD; and since Russia began its special military campaign, this figure has reached 61.4 billion USD.

“The United States has provided more than $62 billion in security assistance to Ukraine since President Biden took office,” the Pentagon said in a statement.

Previously, on December 2, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced the allocation of another military aid package to Ukraine worth 725 million USD, which also includes another series of anti-personnel mines.

Ukraine ratified the Ottawa Convention in 2005, which prohibits the use, stockpiling and production of anti-personnel mines. Earlier, Mark Hizney, a member of the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR), said in a report at Landmine Monitor 2023 that Ukraine had violated the Ottawa Convention, which prohibits the use of anti-personnel mines, during the fighting in the city of Izyum, Kharkiv region.

Russia, on the other hand, believes that supplying weapons to Ukraine hinders the resolution of the conflict, directly involving NATO countries and warns that it is "playing with fire". Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that any goods containing weapons to Ukraine will become a legitimate target for Russia. According to him, the US and NATO are directly involved in the conflict, not only by supplying weapons but also by training personnel for the Ukrainian armed forces in the UK, Germany, Italy and other countries. The Kremlin stated that pumping weapons from the West to Ukraine does not contribute to the negotiations and will have negative effects.
