The main inter-communal road is deteriorating, causing residents to complain bitterly.
(Baonghean.vn) - The main inter-communal road in Thanh Chuong district has been severely degraded for many years. This not only directly affects the daily lives of the people but also hinders the socio-economic development of the locality.
The road from the Thanh Lien commune intersection, past Prison No. 6, to the Ho Chi Minh Highway is 10 km long, passing through three communes of Thanh Chuong district: Thanh Lien, Thanh My, and Hanh Lam, and connecting resettlement communes such as Thanh Son and Ngoc Lam with the district center. After many years of use, this road has seriously deteriorated.

Along the aforementioned road, there isn't a single intact section. The most severely degraded section is the one passing through Thanh My commune. Hundreds of potholes, filled with water, cover the road surface like miniature "ponds"; many sections are so badly dug up that the rocks are uneven and very dangerous for vehicles.

Living right next to the road, Ms. Le Thi Hai (residing in Hamlet 5, Thanh My Commune) complained: “This section of road has deteriorated most severely in the last three years. Just a light rain is enough to cause widespread flooding, making traffic chaotic and disorderly. When it's sunny, the dust is overwhelming; my house always has to be kept closed, some even put up tarpaulins to cover their windows, and accidents happen all the time…”
According to Ms. Hai, the most tragic accident she can never forget was the head-on collision between a motorbike and a truck that resulted in one fatality on the spot, which occurred during last year's rainy season. The number of minor injuries or accidents involving people catching frogs in the middle of the road is countless. At every annual meeting with constituents, people raise these issues, but nothing ever changes.

The deteriorating transportation system not only directly affects the daily lives of the people but also indirectly hinders the socio-economic development of the locality.
Ms. Dao Thi Dung, a small business owner in Thanh My Commune, sighed and said: "In the past, there was a bus route that ran through here. But because of the difficult road conditions, frequent bus breakdowns, and low passenger numbers, they had to abandon the route. Now, people here who want to go to the provinces have to detour to the Thanh Lien Commune intersection or onto the Ho Chi Minh Trail to catch a bus."

| Market 32 in Thanh My commune used to be a trading center for many communes, but today its activity has declined, partly due to difficult road access. |
Similarly, Market 32 in Thanh My commune used to be a trading and commercial center for many communes such as Thanh My, Thanh Duc, Thanh Nho, Hanh Lam, Thanh Lien, etc., but now, traders are gradually leaving due to a lack of customers.
Mr. Pham Xuan Luc, Chairman of the Thanh My Commune People's Committee, said that in recent years, due to severe road damage, the local government has provided financial assistance for road repairs during the Lunar New Year to make travel easier for the people. During the recent Tet holiday, the Thanh Chuong District People's Committee also provided 60 million VND for repairs. The usual repair methods involve filling damaged areas with crushed stone or clearing the road shoulders to allow water to drain, but these are only temporary solutions.

| Overloaded trucks frequently travel on this road, causing it to deteriorate more quickly. |
“This road was built in 1997 and has been in use for over 20 years, but it hasn't received adequate investment in maintenance and repair. Furthermore, the frequent passage of overloaded trucks carrying construction materials and glue has caused the road to deteriorate more quickly,” Mr. Luc explained.

Regarding this matter, Mr. Nguyen The Cuong, Acting Head of the Economic and Infrastructure Department of Thanh Chuong District, said: "This road will be renovated in the near future, but the district does not know if the funding has been secured yet because the district is not the investor."
