When the new roadopen

One day at the end of March, we had the opportunity to travel on that route.N5 road extension, connecting from Hoa Son commune through Minh Son, Bai Son (Do Luong), Minh Thanh, Thinh Thanh (Yen Thanh) and Giang Son (Do Luong) communes to the final point connecting with the Ho Chi Minh Highway in Ky Tan commune, Tan Ky district.

Along the entire length of the route, the majority of the project has been basically completed, allowing for smooth vehicle traffic. Only about 3 km bordering Giang Son commune and Tan Ky district remain unpaved, although the road is open. The contractor is still urgently working on leveling the ground at critical points.

With the road widened, traffic flows more smoothly, and residents living along the road have the opportunity to build new, spacious houses and are motivated to explore new ways of thinking and doing things for economic development.

In Hamlet 2, Bai Son Commune, Do Luong District, stands a solidly built house with beautiful, spacious architecture, situated right next to the N5 highway, surrounded by fruit trees and ornamental plants that have just taken root and sprouted. This is the house of Mr. Cao Dang Xuan's family.

In a conversation with Mr. Xuan, it was learned that the government compensated for 3,400 square meters.2The family received compensation of 2 billion VND, which they used to build a spacious house costing approximately 1.2 billion VND. In addition, they renovated their garden, planting nearly 1,000 peach trees to sell during the Lunar New Year and also engaging in the ornamental plant business.

"Previously, this area was hilly, and the access road was only wide enough for small trucks to transport timber, and it was pitch black at night. Now that a major road has been opened, and there is an increasing number of people and vehicles using the road, my family has thought of a different way to do business. Instead of just planting trees as before, we've boldly started planting and selling ornamental plants to serve the market," said Mr. Cao Dang Xuan.

The extended N5 road runs through Thinh Thanh commune for more than 5km, with many sections winding through endless acacia hills, lush green fields, and prosperous residential areas.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Phong, Chairman of the Thinh Thanh Commune People's Committee, stated that although the commune has significant potential for economic development, its inadequate transportation system makes it one of the most disadvantaged localities in Yen Thanh district. The completion of the N5 road will create the most favorable conditions for the locality to develop a more stable and sustainable economy, focusing on timber plantation and livestock farming. Currently, some households have begun to explore service businesses, particularly increasing timber plantation activities.

Tan Ky's effortsland clearance

The N5 road extension project, intersecting with the Ho Chi Minh Highway in Ky Tan commune, has been a long-awaited dream of the people of Tan Ky district. Therefore, when the project was implemented, the district made every effort.land clearanceurgently. However, as of the end of March, the final section of the project still lacked completed land clearance.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, Vice Chairman of the Tan Ky District People's Committee, stated that the reason for the delay in land clearance at the end of the N5 road extension project is that the district's land compensation and clearance council did not previously consider the connecting road at the intersection with the Ho Chi Minh Highway. Therefore, after the construction unit completed the N5 road and began constructing the connecting road, land clearance issues arose. Immediately after the Lunar New Year holiday, the district's land compensation and clearance council reviewed the situation and found land clearance problems involving 11 households.

Given this situation, the district proceeded to prepare the necessary documents and establish compensation rates applicable to all state mechanisms and policies on land clearance, at the highest possible level. Therefore, at the end of March, the households agreed to the district's land clearance compensation plan, and in early April, they will receive the money and hand over the land to the project.

Representatives from the Project Management Board for Transportation Construction Projects (Department of Transportation) stated that by the end of March, localities through which the extended N5 road passes had completed land clearance for the project, creating favorable conditions for contractors to accelerate construction progress. The N5 road extension project, stretching 15 km from Hoa Son commune, Do Luong district to Tan Ky district, is planned to be completed and put into use by the end of August 2024.

After the completion of the extended N5 road project, it will be of great significance, promoting the socio-economic development of localities, improving freight transport capacity, and meeting the travel needs of the people.
