The Nghi Son (Thanh Hoa) - Cua Lo (Nghe An) coastal road is becoming one of the key transportation projects, carrying particularly important strategic significance. This road not only contributes to completing the transportation infrastructure network but also opens up a new development space, creating a boost for the socio-economic, national defense and security aspects of the coastal region of Nghe An.

The main road has opened.

The coastal road section passing through Nghe An province, from Km7 to Km76, is nearly 60km long and has a total investment of over 4,651 billion VND. This large-scale project demonstrates the strategic vision of the Party and the State, and the determination of our province in realizing its aspiration to reach out to the open sea.

Designed to the standards of a Class III road in a flat area, the roadbed is 12m wide, the road surface is 11m wide, and it includes a system of 8 modern bridges, of which 5 are large bridges (Hoang Mai, Lach Quen, Cua Thoi, Lach Van, Nghi Quang) and 3 are small bridges (Tan Long, Nha Le Canal, Nghi Tan).

The road is not merely a transportation infrastructure, but also a connecting link between coastal cities, economic zones, tourist areas, seaports, and rural areas. From there, it opens up a direction for synchronized development, exploiting the potential of the sea, and closely linking the marine economy with the domestic economy.

The coastal road passes through many key localities such as Quynh Mai ward, Quynh Anh commune, Dien Chau commune, An Chau commune… to Cua Lo ward… These are all localities with rich potential for marine economy, tourism and services.

With a modern road running through the area, attracting investment, expanding trade, and developing industries, services, and tourism will become even more convenient. This demonstrates the State's and the province's concern for the lives of people in coastal areas; it also reflects the determination to develop a comprehensive and modern infrastructure, linked to a sustainable development strategy. The government and people of the coastal communes are full of confidence and hope for a brighter future when this vital road comes into operation.

Mr. Ho Nghia Duong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh Anh commune, believes that the coastal road has created a huge advantage in attracting investment, especially commercial, service, and tourism projects related to the sea. For a locality considered a major "vegetable and fruit producing area" of the province, the new road has shortened the distance between production areas and consumption markets, making it easier for traders to purchase agricultural products.

This means that people have the opportunity to develop their livelihoods and increase their income sustainably. Mr. Nguyen Cuong, a resident of An Chau commune, emotionally stated: "Previously, travel was difficult due to narrow and dilapidated roads. Now, with the spacious and well-maintained coastal road, trade is more convenient, and more tourists are coming. People no longer feel 'isolated,' but instead feel connected and have expanded opportunities for development."

Besides promoting coastal tourism, the route also directly connects to industrial zones and deep-sea ports, creating an important trade corridor for import and export goods, reducing congestion on National Highway 1A, and creating a balance and spreading development between regions.

The coastal road in Nghe An also holds great significance in strengthening national defense and security. As a key coastal artery, the road serves both economic development and ensures mobility for national defense and security, making an important contribution to safeguarding maritime sovereignty and islands, maintaining political security, and social order and safety in the area.

The newly opened roads have created opportunities for development, transforming the face of coastal rural areas. From small fishing villages, they now have better conditions to expand services, develop community tourism, and improve the lives of the people. The opening of major roads has breathed new life into the countryside, stimulating the entrepreneurial spirit and motivating people to boldly invest in production and business. As a result, the appearance of coastal rural areas is becoming increasingly modern and attractive, reflecting the local cultural identity.

Future vision

As the whole country looks forward to celebrating National Day on September 2nd, the coastal road stands as a symbol of powerful change, affirming the will, determination, and aspirations of the Party Committee, government, and people of Nghe An.

This project is both strategically important and closely linked to the practical lives of tens of thousands of coastal households. The coastal road today is a testament to the continuation of the spirit of independence, self-reliance, creativity, and daring to think and act of the present generation in the cause of building a prosperous and strong homeland.

In the near future, when the entire coastal route from Quang Ninh to Nghe An is synchronously connected, Nghe An will become an important transit point in the North Central coastal economic corridor. This is a great opportunity for the province to maximize its marine potential, develop key economic sectors, make coastal tourism a major economic sector, and contribute to achieving the goal of making Nghe An a relatively prosperous province in the country.
