The road down to the fishing port is full of potholes.

(Baonghean.vn) - Due to long-term construction and high density of overloaded vehicles, the inter-commune road from Son Hai to Quynh Tho (Quynh Luu) to Lach Thoi fishing port is seriously degraded.

This is an important road connecting National Highway 48B to Quynh Tho commune and coastal communes of Dien Chau district. And because it was built decades ago, this road has seriously degraded.

According to observations, the damaged road is about 500 meters long, passing through Hamlet 10, Son Hai Commune. There are no drainage ditches on the road and it is full of potholes; the road surface is rough and peeling. Many vehicles passing through here have a hard time crossing the "ponds" in the middle of the road.

As a resident living along this road, Ms. Pham Thi Ly in Hamlet 10, Son Hai Commune (Quynh Luu) is very upset because on rainy days she has to wade through water, splashing everywhere, and on sunny days it is dusty.

She also said that due to damage and subsidence, many falls and traffic accidents have occurred on this road.

“When it rains, this road looks like a fish pond. Every day, the traffic volume is so high that the road is severely damaged. People have complained many times to higher authorities, but so far it has not been resolved,” said Ms. Ly.

Mr. Hoang Son - Vice Chairman of Son Hai Commune People's Committee said that this road was built in 2004 as part of the Son - Tho bridge construction project. This road is the main artery for trade and commerce between the three districts of Quynh Luu, Hoang Mai and Dien Chau. Moreover, this road continues down to Lach Thoi fishing port, so the number of vehicles traveling every day is very high. Because the road is damaged, now there are many heavy trucks carrying wood and construction materials passing through, making the road even more damaged.

“During meetings with voters and representatives of the district and provincial People's Councils, people have reported the situation to higher authorities, but this situation has not been resolved yet. The locality has allocated budget to hire trucks to transport soil and rocks to the damaged sections, but after a while, they broke down again. The locality hopes that the authorities will inspect and find solutions to repair them to ensure safety for people when participating in traffic,” said Mr. Son.
