EC-225: Vietnam's most advanced transport helicopter

With a price of about 600 billion VND, EC-225 is the most expensive and best helicopter of the Vietnam People's Air Force at present.

The EC-225 is one of the multi-purpose transport helicopters purchased by the Vietnamese Ministry of Defense from Eurocopter. It is considered one of the most modern long-range helicopters in the world today. There are currently a total of 6 in service with the Vietnamese military.

The Eurocopter EC-225 Super Puma Mk II+ helicopter that Vietnam owns is a version designed based on the Eurocopter AS332 Super Puma with some improvements on the 5 main blades of the rotor to reduce vibration. The helicopter is equipped with 2 Turbomeca Makila turbine engines mounted through the cabin.

The aircraft has a number of outstanding features in terms of electronic control systems and anti-icing systems by heating the engine at a controlled level when operating through cold to very cold climates. Another improvement of the EC-225 is the installation of a modern control panel in the cockpit with integrated liquid crystal display. The EC-225 has a crew of 2; length 19.5 m; rotor diameter 16.2 m; height 4.97 m; empty weight 5,265 kg, maximum take-off weight 11,200 kg.

The aircraft is equipped with 2 Turbomeca Makila 2A1 engines with a capacity of 1,776 kW (2,382 shp) each, for a maximum speed of 275.5 km/h, a range of 985 km, a ceiling of 5,900 m, and a capacity of 24 passengers.
