Ederson is preparing to leave Etihad: Guardiola won't stop him.
Goalkeeper Ederson has a "realistic chance" of leaving Manchester City in the summer 2025 transfer window, just one year after his move to Saudi Arabia fell through.

Ederson, now 31, came very close to leaving Etihad last summer after receiving a huge salary offer of £900,000 a week from a team in the Middle East. At the time, although he didn't hide the fact that negotiations were taking place, the Brazilian goalkeeper ultimately decided to stay and play for Man City.
However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Saudi Arabian clubs have renewed their interest, and this time Ederson seems ready to seek a new challenge. Manager Pep Guardiola is also reportedly not against Ederson leaving if he chooses to.
The 2024/25 season saw Ederson make only 22 Premier League appearances – the lowest of his career in England. More recently, the Brazilian goalkeeper missed three consecutive matches, including the FA Cup semi-final victory against Nottingham Forest, after suffering an injury in the game against Crystal Palace.
Ederson's current contract with Man City, worth £180,000 a week, expires in 2026. However, the impressive rise of reserve goalkeeper Stefan Ortega has cast a shadow over Ederson's future. In this context, the likelihood of him being the next star to leave Man City this summer is very high.
If the transfer to Saudi Arabia is completed, Ederson will not only be seeking a new playing environment but also enjoying a huge salary – many times his current one – in the final stages of his peak career.
