Cuban President Fidel Castro's youngest sister passes away

Agustina del Carmen Castro Ruz, the youngest sister of Cuban President Raul Castro, passed away in Cuba on March 26 at the age of 78.

According to AP on March 27, Ms. Agustina Castro breathed her last in a hospital in the capital Havana due to complications from recent surgery to treat a fractured hip, according to her sister Juanita Castro.

Ms. Juanita said that Ms. Agustina's health had been declining for more than a year. Ms. Agustina is the youngest of seven siblings in the Castro family, which includes two Cuban leaders, the late leader Fidel Castro and President Raul Castro.

Unlike her famous brothers, Agustina never held any government position and maintained a quiet life until the end of her life.

Her family cremated her remains and placed them in the family crypt in northern Cuba, reuniting them with her siblings Ramon and Angelita.

Leader Fidel Castro passed away in November 2016 at the age of 90. President Raul Castro is preparing to celebrate his 86th birthday next June.
