Yesterday afternoon, Mạnh rode his motorbike, carrying a one-meter-long knife, to the house of his half-sister, Ms. Đỗ Thị Thảo, in the Thái Nguyên steel complex. He stormed in and repeatedly slashed the middle-aged woman. The victim suffered a severed wrist and numerous other injuries.

Seeing his wife being attacked, Mr. Vu The So intervened but was also attacked by Manh, receiving multiple stab wounds to the head and arms. After committing the crime, Manh attempted suicide by slitting his own throat with the knife but was apprehended by the 113 police force of Thai Nguyen city.

By 1:30 this morning, Mr. So had died from a stab wound to the temple. Ms. Thao was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment to have her arm reattached. Manh is still receiving treatment at the Thai Nguyen Steel and Iron Hospital.

According to the initial investigation, Mạnh had repeatedly asked Ms. Thảo for money and received it from her. However, at the end of March, Ms. Thảo stopped giving Mạnh money, which angered him.

Mrs. Thao and her husband run a business selling steamed buns from their home.

Recognizing this as a serious crime, the Thai Nguyen City Police transferred the case file to the provincial police for investigation according to their jurisdiction.
