Yesterday afternoon, Manh rode a motorbike carrying a meter-long knife to his sister Do Thi Thao’s house, a man with the same father as her, in the Thai Nguyen steel mill, and repeatedly slashed the middle-aged woman. The victim suffered a severed wrist and many other injuries.

Seeing his wife being attacked, Mr. Vu The So intervened and was also attacked by Manh, slashing his head and arms many times. After committing the crime, Manh used a knife to slit his throat and attempted suicide but was restrained by the Thai Nguyen City 113 police.

By 1:30 this morning, Mr. So had died from a slash wound to his temple. Mrs. Thao was taken to the emergency room to have her arm reattached. Manh is still being treated at the Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel Hospital.

According to the initial investigation, Manh had asked for money many times and was provided by Mrs. Thao. However, at the end of March, Mrs. Thao stopped giving Manh money, making him angry.

Determining this to be a serious crime, Thai Nguyen city police have transferred the case to the provincial police for investigation according to their authority.
