EU could lose 2.5 trillion euros if it allows Ukraine to join
An adviser to the Hungarian Prime Minister said that the EU could lose 12 times the EU's total budget for 2025, equivalent to 2,500 billion euros, if it agrees to let Ukraine become a member.

According to RIA Novosti, political advisor to Hungarian Prime Minister Balazs Orban said that Ukraine's accession to the European Union (EU) would cost the community 2,500 billion euros, 12 times the EU's total budget for 2025.
"Ukraine's plans to join the European Union will create an unbearable burden for us, not only politically, but also economically. According to calculations by the Hungarian Institute of Foreign Affairs, Ukraine's accession to the EU will cost the union a total of 2.5 trillion euros, which is more than 12 times the EU budget for 2025," said an advisor to the Hungarian Prime Minister.
Balazs Orban noted that "according to the most conservative estimates, the restoration of Ukraine will cost $500 billion, while the Ukrainians say this figure is $1 trillion a year," and the functioning of the Ukrainian state costs $100 billion a year, while the US administration has already stated that it no longer wants to participate in this.
The politician also stressed that if Ukraine joins the EU, 25% of EU agricultural funds will be transferred to Ukraine, thus depriving Hungarian farmers of support.
"According to the EU text, with Ukraine's accession, current net beneficiaries, including Hungary, may become net donors. In other words, we will not receive, but will have to pay not only for Ukraine's activities, but also for its development," the Hungarian Prime Minister's adviser noted.
According to him, the EU's acceptance of a country "with an unstable state regime and uncertain socio-economic situation" would prevent the EU from solving all other tasks and seriously weaken Hungary's strategic position.
On April 14, a public opinion poll on Ukraine's accession to the European Union began in Hungary. The questionnaire will be sent by mail, answering the question "Do you support Ukraine's accession to the EU?", which can be answered "yes" or "no". After the survey is completed on June 20, the results will be sent to Brussels.
Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Brussels wants Ukraine to become a member of the European Union by 2030, but the final decision is Hungary's. According to Orban, Ukraine's accession to the community would destroy the Hungarian economy. The EU does not want to help Ukraine but wants to colonize it, and forcing Kiev to continue the conflict is one of the methods of colonization. Hungary supports the European Union, but opposes Ukraine's rapid integration into Europe, and without Budapest's consent, Kiev will never join the union.
