According to TASS on July 9, Bloomberg reported that the European Commission (EC) has included a separate provision worth 100 billion euros in the draft of the EU's next 7-year budget plan from 2028-2034 to support Ukraine in the conflict with Russia. The EC said the establishment of such a fund is due to the need to "support stable financial support for Ukraine".

Since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, the total amount of financial, economic and military assistance to Kiev from the European Union and its member states has amounted to 160 billion euros, but all this money is distributed not systematically, but in the form of various separate programs, credit lines, national and European loans.

Now the European Commission proposes to make support for Ukraine a structural element of the community budget, that is, a mandatory part of EU spending for the next budget cycle. Budget planning in the EU is carried out over a period of 7 years. The countries of the community unanimously adopt the so-called potential 7-year EU budget, within the framework of the annual community budget that is then approved.

The EC plans to present its draft budget for 2028-2034 next week. Negotiations on the plan between the EC and EU countries could continue until the end of 2027 and end with a compromise.

In addition, the Telegraph said, Britain and the European Union have abandoned plans to send troops to Ukraine to maintain security after a ceasefire was reached.

“Britain and Europe have scrapped plans to deploy thousands of troops in Ukraine, as efforts by the US president have failed in talks. The “Coalition of the Willing” will focus future discussions on supporting Kiev in a war of attrition… it is a clarification of plans” - Telegraph said.
