Euro 2024: A night for the underdogs.
Except for the Netherlands vs. Austria match, Vietnamese football fans had a sleepless night watching a series of lackluster games.
Unexpected outcome in Group D
Before the tournament began, many were certain that France and the Netherlands would be the top two teams in Group D. And after two rounds of matches, everything has unfolded as fans predicted.
However, in the final matchday, the standings in Group D changed dramatically. A strong French team failed to secure a victory against a Polish team with little left to play for, even though they took the lead thanks to a goal from Kylian Mbappé.

It was thought that France's slip-up would be an opportunity for the Netherlands to move up. But no, they even suffered a 2-3 defeat against Austria, causing coach Ronald Koeman's team to drop to third place in the standings.
Meanwhile, this victory puts coach Ralf Rangnick's team comfortably at the top of Group D, thus avoiding strong opponents in the next round. A truly unexpected outcome in Group D.
Group C is as bland as plain water.
A group where only 7 goals were scored in total across 6 matches. And in those 6 matches, there were 5 draws. A statistic that speaks volumes about the dullness of this group.
The most disappointing performance came from England, who after three matches have only managed to score a meager two goals – a disappointing figure. Fortunately, they still maintain their top spot in Group C and are in a favorable bracket for a deep run in this year's tournament.

In last night's matches, Group C also determined two more teams to advance to the Round of 16: Denmark and Slovenia. Coach Matjaž Kek's team made history by progressing beyond the group stage of the European Championship finals for the first time.
Kylian Mbappé scores his first goal at the EURO.
It wasn't until his sixth match that star Kylian Mbappé scored his first goal in a European Championship finals tournament, a truly surprising achievement.
Because the 25-year-old striker has scored 12 goals in 14 World Cup finals matches. Along with that, he has a record of 48 goals in 81 matches for the national team. This makes Kylian Mbappé increasingly the greatest goalscorer in French history.

In last night's match, Kylian Mbappé's penalty goal couldn't secure a victory for the French national team. This caused them to drop to second place in the standings, placing them in the "group of death" alongside host nation Germany, Spain, and Portugal. To overcome these formidable opponents, the French team will undoubtedly have to rely heavily on Kylian Mbappé's talent.
