Facebook suspends API of Vietnamese applications for security check
On March 28, many Vietnamese applications running on the Facebook and Messenger platforms were suddenly suspended from logging in or not allowing new user registration.

Specifically, logging into websites that previously allowed users to register with their Facebook accounts is suspended; Messenger chatbox applications do not allow new user registration. In particular, third-party applications running on the Facebook platform that use APIs to collect user information (which have been accepted by users) must stop working.
According to our research, the above situation occurs in many other places in the world, the scope may be global, not just in Vietnam.
The reason for the above incident is that Facebook is re-evaluating APIs (Application Programming Interface) that may affect the disclosure of Facebook users' information.
Previously, in an email sent to the community of service providers developing on the Facebook platform, including Messenger on March 27, Facebook said they began making changes on the platform to "work to maintain people's trust on Facebook, as Mark Zuckerberg committed to in his post earlier this week".
Specifically, Facebook requires partners to stop launching new applications or experiences on the Facebook and Messenger platforms until the social network completes new changes to the platform's operations as well as adds stricter policies and terms in the near future.
“These are important steps to prevent past misuse of user data, while also introducing stronger protections to prevent future misuse and giving people more control over their data,” Facebook said in a statement.
