Facebook on mobile is about to get a big change

This feature is being tested with a small group of users in the US.

The red number appearing in the Notifications icon was once considered a magical and powerful number. It is one of the factors that makes Facebookers "addicted" and unable to leave this social network.

Now, that number not only means notifications that someone likes, comments, a close friend has just updated their status or you are invited to join a group,... but it also covers many other events. Accordingly, the Notifications section has been renamed to Personalized Notifications, including friends' memories (birthdays, friendship anniversary,...), football scores or movie schedules based on the fanpages that users are following.

In addition, Facebookers can also update their friends about events, such as weather information, movie screenings near their location, or suggest some suitable places to eat.

True to the word “personalization,” Facebook’s new notification center won’t be activated automatically. Instead, users will have to go to Settings > Add more cards to choose the types of notifications they want to integrate.

This feature is currently available to a small group of users in the US, using Facebook on Android and iOS smartphones.
