Federer faces Nadal ahead of the ATP World Tour Finals.

The once-dream final of tennis will be replayed at this year's Swiss Indoors as both Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal made no mistakes in the semi-finals.

After 21 months, tennis fans will once again witness Federer facing Nadal. In the upcoming match, Federer is considered the favorite, holding the number one seed position. Nadal, the number three seed, advanced to the final through a relatively difficult path.

Rafael Nadal defeated Frenchman Richard Gasquet in two sets with scores of 6-4 and 7-6 in a match lasting two hours and five minutes. In the quarterfinals, the Spaniard also needed over two hours to overcome Marin Cilic.

"I've faced Roger hundreds of times all over the world. That includes a few finals in Madrid. But this has never happened on his home turf," Nadal said.

Meanwhile, Roger Federer needed only 63 minutes to comfortably defeat American Jack Sock 6-3 and 6-4. The Swiss player has already bagged six Swiss Indoors titles and is aiming for his seventh in Basel today.

The last time Nadal faced Federer on a hard court was at the 2014 Australian Open, where the Spaniard won in straight sets. However, if we consider ATP Tour events, it has been a long time since these two renowned players met again, since the 2013 Internazionali BNL d'Italia.

The last time Federer defeated Nadal was at Indian Wells in 2012. The upcoming match will be the fifth time these two players have met in a hard-court final. Federer won in Miami in 2005 and the ATP World Tour Finals in 2010, while Nadal triumphed in Dubai in 2006 and the Australian Open in 2009.

"This is the first time we've met in Switzerland. The atmosphere for the upcoming match will be fantastic. This is a dream final for the fans and the organizers," Federer said.

Winning the upcoming final will be an important stepping stone for Federer and Nadal ahead of the ATP World Tour Finals, which begin on November 15th.
