From March 18th to March 25th, the Francophone Film Festival will offer free admission, screening seven films from Francophone countries. This is an annual event organized by the French Language Center in Vinh City. In addition, the Francophone Film Festival is also held in major cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hue.
Florian Pereira, a French volunteer at the French Language Center in Vinh City, said that the Festival is for everyone. At the Festival, viewers can enjoy not only works of French cinema but also films from many other Francophone countries, such as "Heidi" from Switzerland, "A Glimpse" from Tunisia, and "The Red Scarf" from Morocco...

On the first day of the free film screening week, a large number of students, parents, and even schoolchildren came to participate. After watching the animated film "Little Gus and the Migratory Birds," Nguyen Khanh Binh, a student in class 3A at Le Loi Primary School, couldn't hide her joy and excitement. She shared that the film helped her understand the difficulties of migratory birds and was an opportunity for her to practice her French listening skills.
Present at the Francophone Film Festival, Ms. Dau Thi Vinh, parent of Tran Dau Nhat Linh, a student in class 4A at Le Loi Primary School, said this was the third time she had brought her child to the Francophone Festival. For Ms. Vinh, this is an opportunity to provide her child with an environment to learn French, a chance for entertainment, and a chance to become familiar with and communicate in French.
Nguyen Phuong Trinh, a second-year student at Vinh Medical University, shared that although she doesn't study French at school, she has a great fondness for the language. When she learned about the free French film week, she and her friend went to see it. This was an opportunity for her to become more familiar with French and to better understand the cultures of countries in the Francophone community.
Florian commented that this was a great event to explore the cinema of different countries, especially since it was completely free. Many films with interesting content, difficult to find online or in cinemas in Vinh City, were also screened during this event. Florian hoped that the Francophone Film Festival could attract even more participants because each film screened during this event also had Vietnamese subtitles for those who do not know French.
