The Brazilian striker was hospitalized after a collision with a Tottenham defender during the fifth round of the Premier League.

Roberto Firmino is at risk of missing Liverpool's opening Champions League match of the 2018-2019 season against PSG, after suffering an injury when Jan Vertonghen poked him in the eye.

The incident occurred during Liverpool's 2-1 victory over Tottenham on September 15th. In a challenge for the ball, Vertonghen's hand hooked into Firmino's eye, causing the Liverpool striker pain. This unusual collision was captured on camera, causing alarm among television viewers.

Firmino left the match in the 74th minute, immediately after a collision. The Brazilian international was taken to Moorfields Eye Hospital for examination. The test results showed that Firmino did not have a serious problem.

However, Liverpool still face a high risk of losing Firmino for the match against PSG. The striker is in excellent form. Therefore, if this happens, it would be a significant loss for the Anfield team.

"Firmino's condition will be monitored and cared for by Liverpool's medical team at Melwood before a decision is made on whether he can participate in Tuesday's Champions League match against PSG," Liverpool's official website announced.

Firmino scored the winning goal, giving Liverpool a 2-1 victory over Tottenham. Georginio Wijnaldum had opened the scoring for Jurgen Klopp's side earlier in the match. Tottenham found a late equalizer through Erik Lamela.
