The Brazilian striker was hospitalized after colliding with a Tottenham defender in the match of round 5 of the Premier League.

Roberto Firmino is in danger of missing Liverpool's opening match of the 2018-2019 Champions League against PSG. The reason is that this striker suffered an injury after being gouged in the eye by Jan Vertonghen.

The incident happened during Liverpool's 2-1 win over Tottenham on September 15. During a tackle, Vertonghen's hand hooked inside Firmino's eye, causing the Liverpool striker pain. This rare collision was recorded by the camera, causing confusion among television viewers.

Firmino left the game in the 74th minute, immediately after the collision. The Brazilian international was taken to Moorfields Eye Hospital for tests. Tests showed that Firmino had no serious problems.

However, Liverpool are still at high risk of losing Firmino in the match against PSG. This striker is in good form. Therefore, if this happens, it will be a big loss for the Anfield team.

"Firmino's condition will be monitored by Liverpool's medical team at Melwood before a decision is made on whether he will be available for Tuesday's Champions League match against PSG," Liverpool's website said.

Firmino scored the decisive goal to help Liverpool beat Tottenham 2-1. Earlier, Georginio Wijnaldum opened the scoring for Jurgen Klopp's team. Tottenham found a goal to reduce the deficit late in the match thanks to Erik Lamela.
